Abandon yourself to God as you understand God. Admit your faults to Him and to your fellows. Clear away the wreckage of your past. Give freely of what you find and join us. We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit, and you will surely meet some of us at you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny. May God bless you and keep you -- until then.

Seeing The Forest & The Trees, 1994

In 1993 I began writing poetry related to the recovery process. I wrote a series of poetry in 1994 called, Seeing the Forest and the Trees.

Here are a couple of poems from it:

A Goal

To dream a dream
without sleeping
To dance a dance
without music
To sing a song
without a tune
To write a poem
without a rhyme
To believe
without seeing

A Meeting

I called everyone together
to discuss a change
My change
If you haven't already noticed
I am not the same person I used to be
I have gone to great lengths to change
Please
Stop looking at me that way
I am different now
As I look across the room
at all your faces
I see
you are all the same
content
with your lives
I respect that
Please do
what you want
with your life
But the changes in me
the constant change in me
toward growth
is causing
no common ground
I strive for health daily
and today
I gracefully
respectfully
Bow out of your dysfunction
without your permission
